This slender and graceful gazelle was made by the glassmaking duo Francesco Zecchin and Napoleone Martinuzzi from Murano, the famous Italian glass center. A common motif in Italian decorative arts during the 1920s and 1930s, the gazelle often served as a symbol of speed, especially in the streamlined artworks of the Art Deco period.
