Man's Reversible Coat with Belt and Button-on Label

c. 1987-1990
Designed by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (French (born Morocco), born 1949) Label Ko and Co (founded 1968)
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac began his design career by fashioning a garment from his boarding school blanket; as this coat shows, he has remained fascinated by the same design challenges. Castelbajac uses simple shapes of cloth to produce architectonic clothing that is functional, comfortable, and colorful. Here he has placed the wool's fringed ends along the coat's front edges and added accents of solid black and red; for a totally different look, the coat can be reversed to show a solid black lining—even the large label can be moved.
