Attributed to Giles Grendey (English, 1693–1780)

This chair is identical to others Giles Grendey supplied to Henry Hoare for Stourhead, Hoare's house in Wiltshire, England. The chair is stamped with an R, probably the mark of a journeyman in Grendey's workshop.
