Tankard

1719-1720
Workshop of Michael Boult (English (active London), active 1713–1745)
The first tankards made entirely of silver appeared in the mid-sixteenth century. Their form, which might have originally imitated the shape of wooden barrels, remained much the same throughout the eighteenth century.
