This plate was made in China, for export to the Islamic market. It is part of an elaborate dessert set made for Azim Jah, a descendent in the Wallajah family and the Nawab of Arcot (ruled 1819 to 1825). The pink pattern is a Chinese copy of a design found on English porcelain.
