"AJ" Lamp

Designed 1957
Designed by Arne Jacobsen (Danish, 1902–1971) Made by Louis Poulsen & Company A/S, Copenhagen, Denmark (1917–present)
Architect Arne Jacobsen, who is best known for his Scandinavian Airlines Air Terminal and Royal Hotel in Copenhagen (1956-60), for which this lamp was originally designed, introduced modernist designs to the Danish public through his work in the 1920s. The AJ lamp is typical of the functionalist principles that inform much of his work.
