Vase

1904
Designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany (American, 1848–1933) Made by Tiffany Studios, Corona, New York (1902–1938)
Inspired by Chinese porcelain with “oxblood” glaze, this red color was created by mixing molten glass with gold chloride, which made such pieces costly and thus limited their production. Classic, symmetrical vase shapes became increasingly common in Tiffany glass after about 1905.
