Window Reflection - French Building

c. 1930-1932
Sherril Schell (American, 1877–1964)
Photographed through a glass window, Schell's image merges two skyscrapers into a single hybrid structure. The Fred F. French Building, completed in 1927, forms the base. This building's distinctive ornamentation is seen twice, first in the primary image at center and again at right in a faint reflection on the sunlit window. Crowning the structure is the crenellated tower of the nearby Lefcourt National Building, built in 1929. Its dark silhouette is reflected in the shaded portion of the same window.
