"White Dream" (Shiroi Yume) Water Container (Mizusashi)

1999
Miwa Kazuhiko (Japanese, born 1951)
Known for his creamy white Hagi glazes, potter Miwa Kazuhiko calls this piece Shiroi Yume, or “White Dream.” The Hagi area is one of the traditional kiln sites for tea wares, and this is a contemporary interpretation of a kensui for the tea ceremony. The irregular holes at the sides can be used as hand holds for the otherwise large container.
