Drawing Room from a Town House: 901 Fifth Avenue, New York City

Drawing Room from a Town House: 901 Fifth Avenue, New York City, 1923, designed by the firm of Maison Carlhian

Designed as an elegant setting for a distinguished collection of eighteenth-century French furniture and decorative arts, this room and its furnishings were given to the museum in 1939 by Eleanore Elkins Rice. The woodwork, featuring painted and gilded oak, is based on designs by French architect Jacques-Ange Gabriel (1698–1782).
