Works on Paper from the Collection of H. Richard Dietrich, Jr. and The Dietrich American Foundation

November 25, 1995–February 12, 1996

The Dietrich American Foundation was established to document, research, and collect historically important examples of American decorative and fine art. The collections include eighteenth- and nineteenth-century furniture, silver, ceramics, Pennsylvania German decorative art, historical documents, manuscripts, prints, and paintings. Other fields of interest are American maritime industries, early topographical views, military history, maps, and works of art depicting the American West and documenting Native American populations. This exhibition presents a selection of works on paper that illustrates the wide historical range of the foundation's interests. Objects from the foundation's collections of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century American decorative art and painting can be seen in the American galleries of this Museum.
