A first-time exhibit of prints of Martha Graham and her dance company will be on exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art October 11 - November 30, 1986. The exhibit will be a part of a tribute to Martha Graham on the sixtieth anniversary of her dance company, in conjunction with their performances at Annenberg Center November 12-15. The exhibit is being coordinated by the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Dance Celebration, the contemporary dance series. A special reception will be held by Mayor W. Wilson Goode, October 24, at the Art Museum, to honor Miss Graham with the city's highest award. Photographers represented in the exhibition will feature three different periods in Graham's career. Imogen Cunningham's works focus on the early years of Graham's company, which began in 1926. Most of her prints featured will be portrait studies of Graham. During the early 1930's through 1940, Barbara Morgan assumed an intensive study of Graham and her choreography. Her prints featured in the exhibit will represent works taken from the result of that study: Martha Graham: Sixteen Dances in Photographs. Max Waldman's prints represent dancers in Graham's company in the 1970's. Waldman has photographed other great dancers: Natalia Makarova, Mikhail Barishnikov, and Judith Jameson.
