Re-creating the period of La Belle Epoque, from 1880 to 1915, Curator Elsie S. McGarvey unveiled on June 4 an exhibition of 30 magnificent costumes, complemented by furniture and decorative arts of the period. On hand opening day to discuss the elegance of that bygone era was guest lecturer Claudia Kidwell, Associate Curator of Costumes and Furnishings at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. The film Paris 1900 rounded out the picture, capturing the joie de vivre of the French capital.
