Design Since 1945 is an exhibition of 418 objects (appliances, ceramics, glass, furniture, lighting, metalwork, plastics, textiles, and wood) installed in the Special Exhibition Galleries. George Nelson designed the installation. The catalogue was edited by and features biographies by Kathryn B. Hiesinger and Geoge H. Marcus, Head of Publications. It includes essays by 17 contributing authors and was published by the Philadelphia Museum of Art; Rizzoli International Publications, New York, and Thames and Hudson, London published a cloth edition. The exhibition is supported by grants from Best Products Co., Inc.; The Pew Memorial Trust; and the National Endowment for the Humanities, a Federal agency. The catalogue received support from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts. Funding for the catalogue was also provided by COLLAB: The Contemporary Design Group for the Philadelphia Museum of Art; The Pew Memorial Trust; and the Design Arts Program of the National Endowment for the Arts, a Federal agency.
