Contemporary Philadelphia Artists: A Juried Exhibition

April 22–July 8, 1990

The Philadelphia Museum of Art takes pride and pleasure in the organization of a major juried exhibition of works in a variety of media by Philadelphia area artists. All eligible artists are invited and encouraged to participate. The exhibition will occupy all 13,500 square feet of the Museum's Dorrance Galleries for special exhibitions and will be documented by a full-color catalogue. Eight cash prizes of $3,000 each will be awarded by the jury for especially distinguished works in the exhibition. This is one of three exhibitions sponsored by Philadelphia Art Now, a three-year program funded by The William Penn Foundation to increase the visibility of area artists. The first of these exhibitions, organized by the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, occurred in the summer of 1988, and the other is currently being organized by the Institute of Contemporary Art, University of Pennsylvania.
