Beatrice Wood at 100

February 13–May 16, 1993

This exhibition presents a small group of works by the American artist Beatrice Wood, drawn from the Museum's collection of over sixty works and the collection of the Fabric Workshop. It celebrates the artist's one-hundredth birthday on March 3, 1993. Wood, who began her artistic career in 1917 with her Dada-inspired drawings and paintings, has since expanded her activities to include prints, fabric arts, and ceramics. Her use of brilliant colors, economy of line and whimsical autobiographical references, bring a spirit of continuity to her career of over seventy-five years.
