Ars Medica

October 22, 1976–January 2, 1977

A unique asset of the Museum's Prints, Drawings and Photographs Department is its large Ars Medica Collection, initially assembled during the 1950s by the late Curator of Prints Carl Zigrosser with funds donated by the SmithKline Corporation. With additional grants from SmithKline and other sources, the Collection has grown to some 500 prints dating from the 15th century to the present, all illustrating some aspect of medical history or practice. Prior to touring major European museums, 137 works from the Collection were installed by Curator Kneeland McNulty in the Ground Floor Corridor from late October through January 2.
