For centuries, artists have sought pleasure and solace in nature, whether in a city park or remote wilderness. Graced with inspiring beauty, trees have long been a favored subject, and artists have found wonder in even the smallest sprouting sprig or moldering stump. This installation—featuring some twenty-five western and Japanese prints by artists such as Camille Pissarro and Katsushika Hokusai, drawings by Jean Franois Millet and Winslow Homer, and photographs by Ansel Adams and Josef Sudek—celebrates the tree in all of its ever-changing aspects.
