Christina Ramberg is best known for her stylized paintings of fragmented female bodies. Throughout her brief but productive career, she also created or absorbed an enormous breadth of source material that fueled her artistic practice. Thea Liberty Nichols, co-curator of the exhibition Christina Ramberg: A Retrospective and volume editor of the accompanying exhibition catalogue, discusses her research into the life and work of Ramberg, and the never-before-published diaries, sketchbooks, slides, and ephemera presented within the book.
About the Speaker:
Thea Liberty Nichols is associate research curator in Modern and Contemporary Art, The Art Institute of Chicago. Her work for the museum includes co-organizing Hairy Who? 1966–1969 with Ann Goldstein and Mark Pascale, and support for Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again; Gray Collection: Pure Drawing; and Ray Johnson c/o. Most recently, she co-organized Christina Ramberg: A Retrospective with Pascale.
