Members-Only Talk: Queer(ing) Art

Thursday, June 29,
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. EST

Led by Barra Fellow in American Art, Lily F. Scott, this webinar asks us to contemplate what "counts" as queer art, considering examples from across histories and geographies. Examine examples of LGBTQIA+ art found within the museum's vast and diverse collection, looking at works by artists such as Zoe Leonard and Marsden Hartley, as well as those featuring images of figures such as Sappho and James Baldwin.

We use the word "queer" in thoughtful and compassionate recognition of the LGBTQIA+ community's reclamation and celebration of the term, which has a history of being wielded as hate speech.

This talk was originally scheduled for Friday, June 26. It will now occur on Thursday, June 29, 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
