Teacher Workshops

Teen and Teacher Conversation
Wednesday, January 18, 2017
4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
2 NJ or PA hours
Location: Julian Levy Gallery, Perelman Building

Join us for an intergenerational conversation inspired by Jitish Kallat's new installation, Covering Letter. The museum's TAG (Teen Ambassador Group), made up of students from high schools throughout Philadelphia, will join museum educators and teachers for a discussion about how best to engage in respectful dialogue with those who are different from us and may hold diverse viewpoints and perspectives. The evening is an opportunity to open up the lines of communication between teens and teachers on tough topics such as bullying, social justice, and conflict resolution in the school environment.

The program will begin with refreshments at 4:30pm and the conversation will start at 5:00pm.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the Pamela and Ajay Raju Foundation is launching an essay writing contest for high school students that will award a $10,000 scholarship to the writer of the winning essay. You will learn more about this exciting opportunity for your students at the end of the conversation.
