"In arranging my new apartment I see your paintings again with so much pleasure.... There's such a note of truth, of real countryside in each one."
Letter to van Gogh from his brother Theo, Paris, March 16, 1889
"I've looked most attentively at your works since we parted; first at your brother's and then at the Independents exhibition. I offer you my sincere compliments, and for many artists you are the most remarkable in the exhibition. With things from nature you are the only one there who thinks."
Letter to van Gogh from artist Paul Gauguin, Paris, March 20, 1890

Other museums I've been too offer a catalogue for purchase if there is a print you would like to have but its not offered in the museum store. There was also one I would have purchased framed, however only gold frames offered. What a shame, as I will find them, but the Phila Art Museum will not benefit from the sale.

It is amazing how many paintings he created in his last few years. I find myself thinking how many wonderful images we never got to see because he died so young. What a shame

I loved the way the exhibit was laid out allowing the viewer to see how his art changed through the years. Timing the exhibit was also a wonderful idea and made the exhibit less crowded and more manageable with little kids.

The art was extremely well done. I liked how he used curves and colors you wouldn't normally us for certain things like purple for trees. It would have been better with food.
