A community-service art project created by the Museum’s Delphi After School Art Club and Harrowgate PAL Center students
Mural Dedication: May 22, 2013
Harrowgate PAL Center
851 East Tioga Street, Philadelphia 19134
The mural features art by students from:
- AMY Northwest
- Blaine Academics Plus School
- Juniata Park Academy
- Middle Years Alternative (MYA) School
- Russell Byers Charter School
- Thomas K. Finletter Elementary School
- Harrowgate PAL Center
Students from the Museum’s Delphi After School Art Club and Harrowgate PAL Center created collaborative and individual artworks inspired by the Museum’s collection. The student art was then collaged into the overall mural, which represents the combined educational and outreach missions of the Museum and PAL. The permanent mural will exist on the wall for many years to come, transforming its environment and exposing the community to beautiful and inspiring art.
Threads of Imagination was designed by artist Betsy Casañas. Philadelphia Museum of Art teaching artists Roslyn Don, Cecilia Dougherty, Doris Nogueira-Rogers, Diane Pieri,
Stephane Rowley, and Benjamin Volta worked closely with their students to create artwork included in the mural.
The Delphi After School Art Club at the Philadelphia Museum of Art is generously supported by Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company and The Delphi Project Foundation. This project was made possible in partnership with the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia and Support Community Outreach Program.
