Cabinet

1874-1876
Giuseppe Ferrari (American (born Italy), 1844–1898)
After emigrating from his native Italy to New York in 1872, Ferrari created this monumental piece of furniture to showcase his talents. With its remarkably ornate carvings in the style of antique French and Italian furniture, the cabinet earned a medal at the 1876 Centennial Exhibition for “good design, superior carving, and fine workmanship.”
