Padmasambhava, brought to Tibet in the eighth century by a Tibetan king, founded tantric Buddhism, or Lamaism. An Indian guru, he subdued all the malignant gods of Tibet, sparing only those who converted to Buddhism and promised to be defenders of Buddhist doctrine. He is here surrounded with pictures of episodes from his life.
