Grace Kelly's Wedding Shoes

1956
Designed by David Evins (American (born England), 1907–1991) Made by Evins, New York Worn by Grace Kelly at her marriage to Prince Rainier of Monaco (American (Philadelphia), 1929–1982)
America’s top footwear designer created custom-made but elegantly simple shoes for the royal bride. The classic pumps, a style for which David Evins was famous, feature rounded toes and 2½ inch heels. The main design feature is the cordonnet, or thread, outlining the lace motifs, which include a rosette on the top accented with seed pearls and clear glass beads. A copper penny was encased in the right shoe for good luck; the left shoe is embossed with the celebrated client’s name.
