This rubbing was taken from a stone engraving showing the Bodhisattva Guanyin seated on a lotus throne. A small boy clasps her left arm. The text includes a Buddhist incantation and important dates to be observed by the faithful. A female worshiper from Jiangxi province ordered the original engraving, which was completed on an auspicious morning of the first month of summer of the Dingyou year (1837) of the Daoguang period.
