LabelKenko Shokei was a Zen Buddhist priest at Kenchoji, a temple in Kamakura, Japan. Following Chinese prototypes of paintings of Daruma, Kenko uses vibrant brushwork to depict the famous patriarch as a robed monk with strong features and a look of intense concentration.
