LabelPauline Trigère’s superb use of fabric, cut, and tailoring, developed during extensive French training, was evident throughout her long American career. She became known for producing deceptively simple garments that were effortlessly versatile. In this reversible coat, the designer mastered the challenge of working in double-faced wool to create a fitted body and a large, contrasting collar that echoes the lines of her celebrated capes. Although right in style for fall 1972, when tartan was in great favor, this almost timeless coat illustrates the reason for Trigère’s design longevity. |
