Woman's Hat

Label Irma March (American) Worn by Mrs. Alexander Sellers (Edith Ferris Bringhurst) (American, 1874–1947)
This hat completes a a coat-and-skirt ensemble also in the Museum's collection, (1948-18-38a,b) which features a full skirt in the "Russian" style and a short belted coat. It was was purchased at the Philadelphia speciality shop Irma March. The ensemble was worn by Mrs. Alexander Sellers, the former Edith Ferris Bringhurst (1874 - 1947), whose father acquired Rockwood Manor in Wilmington, Delaware, in 1892. Edith lived at Rockwood until her marriage in 1897.
