LabelThis is a typical Renaissance altarpiece in which saints and the Virgin and Child appear in a unified space. In Italian this type of arrangement is called the sacra conversazione (sacred conversation). The painter, David Ghirlandaio, worked in a family enterprise headed by his more famous brother Domenico.
