Virgin and Child, with a Dog

c. 1330-1335
Attributed to Dalmasio (Italian (active Bologna, Pistoia, and Florence), first documented 1342, died before 1377)
The presence of the lap dog suggests that this was owned by a Dominican friar or nun; Dominicans were commonly called the watchdogs of the Roman Catholic Church.
