Museum Science: Cultural Caretakers

Conservation scientist Kate Duffy offers an inside look at some of the Museum’s conservation projects. Also hear all about our X-ray fluorescence machine, which helps us determine the age of a painting without having to take a sample.

In these unconventional gallery tours for the adventurous, join Penn and Temple med students as they diagnose figures in paintings and prescribe treatments.

In-Gallery Gaming: Art or Surgery?

Compete with your friends to win prizes in this game hosted by Philadelphia performer extraordinaire Jess Conda. Explore an assortment of unusual objects from the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Mütter Museum, and then figure out whether they were used to make art or perform surgery.
